“random musings” of mooty, 15/8/09

I haven’t been posting for a week now. This is totally not because I have been playing inane Flash games in my free nights, but because I have been churning out practice essays in a little hamster wheel with a few not-dreamed-up friends of mine.

…wut, you can always verify with Gnocasta the Gnome if you don’t believe me.

In the earlier part of the year the guys of 10A01B had a little game in the mornings. To avoid sitting next to undesirable people in class we’d clutch our bags and run around frenzied, screaming “DON’T COMMIT! DON’T COMMIT!” until said undesirable people had sat down, in which case we’d sit down somewhere else.

It’s not a very pleasant game but that’s not the point. In engaging in laddish behaviour we might have been closer to the truth than we thought. I have since realised that Don’t Commit is an answer to everything, pretty much like Your Mother! In fact, the two work hand-in-hand to cover all possible questions, and anyone can pass off as a fairly intelligent human by knowing these four words. The trick is in knowing which two words to use.

Bob: Hey Tim, what’s for supper?
Tim: YOUR MOTHER

Tim: Hey Bob, wanna check out this timeshare deal I signed up for five minutes ago?
Bob: DON’T COMMIT

I’m sure you see how this works already. I can’t overstate how important it is to get this right, because saying it wrong has severe repercussions.

Bob: Hey Tim, wanna check out this hot 40-year-old babe I’ve been living with?
Tim: YOUR MOTHER
Bob: …well, yeah, but that’s not the point.
